SONG TITLE: Kokomo by The Beach Boys
A BLAST FROM: July 1988

EMOTION: Youthfulness
MEMORY: When I was a kid, my mom would get invited to these legal conferences for her work. My parents and I would get to go stay in these 4 and 5-star resorts for free! Some of my favorite memories as a kid were staying in these fancy hotels, swimming in amazing pools, eating seafood, and vacationing like we were rich. I developed a taste for [virgin] Piña Coladas, Jimmy Buffet, girls in bikinis, and of course, the Beach Boys. My parents had the Cocktail soundtrack on cassette, and I would bring it everywhere and listen to "Kokomo" over and over again. It was the perfect soundtrack for that type of tropical vacation. It also has a distinctive late 80's/early 90's sound, so whenever I hear it now, it takes me back to that time and those good memories of tropical vacations with my parents. Now that I have my own kids, I want to give them the same memories.
